NCAA v. Kansas

A trial was held yesterday accusing Kansas of actively breaking PASPA. PASPA is a nationwide act which outlawed sports betting in all forms. Kansas overturned all PASPA laws. The NCAA accused the state of Kansas for not obeying the federal law. The case was filed and attorneys appointed. At the start of the trial, both sides had equal footing, however, as the case moved on, the tides started to turn. The NCAA claimed Kansas supported and will support sports betting through future state laws. On the contrary, the Kansas attorneys stated no such actions were taken. Witness testimonies from two casino owners contributed immensely for Kansas. The trial quickly came to an end with the charges against Kansas dropped. Furthermore, the judges’ verdict stated, federal law will be followed if there are no state laws. ]]>
